2017 Girls All Academic Team
Each year the committee is charged with selecting 25-30 seniors from across the state for this award based on their high school academic and playing career. This year 68 players were nominated and the quality of the nominations was the highest it has ever been with all nominees exceeding the minimum requirements for this award. Playing achievement was based on the number of varsity games played and the number of games started. Based on the quality of the nominations this year a player needed to have played at least two years on the varsity and played in AND started a significant number of varsity games during that period to move on to the academic portion of the selection process. Academic performance was evaluated by the product of the student’s unweighted GPA and ACT score (GPA*ACT). Thirty (30) of the girls who met the playing criteria had GPA*ACT scores of 113.8 or higher. These 30 girls plus 2 girls with academic scores within one point of this were selected for the team.
Thank you again for nominating your girls. The committee was very impressed with the quality of students with whom you are working.
Ben Timson, Academic Committee Chair
